Thank you, Peter

With a heavy heart, this week we say goodbye to long-standing committee member, Peter Marks.

Peter began his LPC tenure on Stockport LPC in the 1990s, leading the organisation through a number of decisive changes including the formation of PCGs (Primary Care Groups).

In 2016 he played a pivotal role in the merging of the GM LPCs. He then chaired GMLPC for a time, before becoming director of provider organisation CHL.

As a GMLPC committee member, Peter achieved several important milestones. These include:

  1. Gaining a place on GMMMG (Greater Manchester Medicines Management Group) and CRG (Clinical Reference Group)
  2. Securing a seat on the NW RMOC (Regional Medicines Optimisation Committees) on behalf of all North West LPCs, battling to help community pharmacy become respected as a representative voice

He also oversaw the beginning of Flu vaccinations in pharmacies and witnessed the birth of PCTs (Primary Care Trusts).

Throughout his term, Peter’s effort to support our sector have been significant and his commitment, irrefutable.

Peter will continue to support us using his skillset when and where required.

Thank you for your dedication, Peter.
