The New Medicine Service (NMS) was commissioned as an Advanced Service from October 2011.

NMS: Change to Monthly Cap from June 2026
We’d like to remind our contractors and pharmacy teams that the New Medicine Service (NMS) monthly consultation cap is now based on 0.9% rather than 1.0% of monthly prescriptions. This change was announced as part of the 2026/27 CPCF settlement.

CPPE: New Medicines Service (NMS) Updated Resources
The Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education (CPPE) has updated their New Medicine Service (NMS) resources following the recent expansion to the service. Both CPPE’s NMS e-learning and NMS webpage now include a section on depression.
