RPS Greener Pharmacy Toolkit

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Greener Pharmacy Toolkit has been designed to support pharmacies to become more environmentally sustainable and self-accredit their sustainability status.

It enables community pharmacies to assess their impact, benchmark, and improve through evidence-based activities and actions. Actions have multiple co-benefits including reducing costs, staff time savings, patient satisfaction and improving health outcomes. It is a free, easy to use, web-based resource.

This is an exciting opportunity for community pharmacies in Greater Manchester to be able to use the toolkit before it undergoes full launch.

If you would like to find out more and become an early adopter pharmacy, please contact madeleine.winder1@nhs.net * or  access the toolkit directly via this link: https://www.rpharms.com/greenerpharmacy

*Maddie is a Chief Sustainability Officer Clinical Fellow working in Greater Manchester and is keen to support pharmacies to be able to use the toolkit and become more environmentally sustainable.

What’s included in the toolkit?

The online toolkit consists of three levels (Bronze, Silver and Gold) for pharmacies to complete relating to actions to help reduce their carbon footprint.

Upon completion, you will receive a certificate to recognise participation. Here’s an example of the online accreditation you will receive.

Further resources

To help you complete the toolkit, an accompanying guide has been published which includes details around what is included in each of the three levels.

RPS have also published a checklist which summaries the requirements for each of these levels and will help you stay on track as you work towards becoming a greener pharmacy.
