GM Mandatory Public Health Campaign: Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR): Get involved

As part of the agreed mandatory local public health campaigns across Greater Manchester, the upcoming focus will be on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). linked to Pharmacy First and national Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week.
Date: 18th – 24th November 2025
Supporting information and resources will be shared towards the end of October / early November to help you prepare.
Here are some ideas to help you start planning:
Healthy Living Pharmacy (HLP) & Promotion
- Use your HLP zone to display posters, leaflets, and links to digital resources
- Consider running small in-pharmacy activities or displays to prompt conversations
- Encourage health champions to lead engagement in the pharmacy
- Share messages on your pharmacy’s social media channels
Patient Counselling
- Talk to patients collecting antibiotics about the importance of completing the course as prescribed
- Reinforce key messages about not sharing leftover antibiotics
- Encourage patients not to request unnecessary antibiotics
- Highlight self-care and Pharmacy First options for minor illnesses
- Brief all team members so consistent messages are given
