Fidaxomicin: Urgent Ordering and Emergency Delivery Information
NHS Greater Manchester has issued a reminder that fidaxomicin prescriptions must be ordered urgently to avoid delays in starting treatment for C. difficile infection.
Fidaxomicin tablets and granules for oral suspension are available through Alliance Healthcare.
If treatment is needed between Friday evening and Sunday evening, or on a bank holiday, a free emergency ordering service is available. Call 0330 100 0449 to arrange courier delivery to the pharmacy within 12 hours.
We recognise that some pharmacies only receive one wholesaler delivery each day during the week. If this would delay the patient starting treatment, please contact nearby pharmacies to see whether they can order and receive fidaxomicin sooner, and help coordinate access for the patient.
Alert the prescriber immediately if there are any difficulties obtaining fidaxomicin.
